How to get to Canterbury
You have several options to travel to Canterbury from Belgium:
-
By car and ferry: drive to the port of Calais and take the ferry to Dover. Crossing the channel takes about one hour and a half. From Dover, it’s a short 30-minute drive to Canterbury.
-
By car and Eurotunnel shuttle: drive to Calais and take the Eurotunnel "Le Shuttle" to Folkestone. The shuttle crosses the channel in 30 minutes. From Folkestone, it’s about a 30-minute drive to Canterbury.

-
By Train: take the Eurostar from Lille Europe or Brussels Midi/Zuid station to London St Pancras International. From there, transfer to a Southeastern train to Canterbury West. The entire journey takes approximately 3.5 to 4 hours.

Practical tips
-
Be sure to bring an international passport that is valid for at least six months to ensure entry into the UK. On top of that, you will also need to apply for an electronic travel authorisation (ETA). You can do this using the official 'UK ETA' app.
-
UK socket outlets are different from those in Belgium, so we recommend bringing a travel adaptor.
-
Ferry and Eurotunnel prices are based on cars rather than the number of passengers. Carpooling can help reduce costs, and booking a round-trip journey is usually more economical than two separate one-way trips.
